Orissa beats Bihar in a thriller

Jamshedpur:Orissa clinched a two-run win over host Bihar in a nail-biting finish in the East-Zone Limited Over Ranji trophy match.

Orissa innings started disastrously losing two quick wickets for nine but Shiv Sunder Das (22-3x4) and R R Parida (22-3x4) came to the rescue of the team. Both the batsmen were playing a cautious knock when Anshuman Raj struck having Das bowled.

Das and Parida put up 40 runs for the third wicket. Orissa's wickets kept tumbling at regular interval but Prabhanjan Mullick (48-8x4) and Sanjay Raul (34 not out) stitched up highest 55-run partnership for the sixth wicket,helping Orissa to score 155 all out.

Chasing an easy target, host Bihar began on a poor note losing five wickets for meagre 71 runs. However Keshav Kumar (25) and Rajiv Kumar (37) brought in valuable 59 runs for the sixth wicket stand.

Left-arm spinner Srikant Jena bowling a tidy spell troubled the Bihar batsmen and bundled out for 153. Bihar's four batsmen were run out while Jena emerged successful bowler with 3/31. Orissa, who earned four points from this match, had seven points from three outing while Bihar had four with similar matches.
