Rayudu to lead U-19 team in World Cup

Mumbai:Talented batsman Ambati Rayudu of Hyderabad will lead the 14-member Indian cricket team in the Under-19 World Cup to be held at Bangladesh from February 9 to March 7.

Dinesh Karthik of Tamil Nadu will be Rayudu's deputy while former Indian all-rounder Robin Singh will be coach, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) joint secretary Prof Ratnakar Shetty, said in Mumbai on Saturday.

"The selected player will attend a 15-day coaching camp at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore from tomorrow (Sunday)whilethe team would leave for Bangladesh on February nine from Kolkata," he added.

The team: Ambati Rayudu (capt-Hyderabad), Robin Uttappa and Gaurav Dhiman (both from Karnataka), Praful Waghela from Mumbai, Faiz Fazal from Vidharbha, Shikhar Dhawan and Abhishek Sharma (both from Delhi), Suresh Raina, Praveen Gupta and R P Singh (all three from Uttar Pradesh), Dinesh Karthik (vice-captain- Tamil Nadu), V R V Singh from Punjab, Sunny Singh from Haryana and Nikhil Rathod from Saurashtra.

Coach: Robin Singh.

Physio: Dr Kinjal Suratwala.
