Villier's dashing knock, studded with three sixes and 27 boundaries off 144 balls, supported by Imran Khan's 96 helped South Africa make 369 for loss of three wickets in 50 overs. Openers Villiers and Khan laid a strong foundation with their 230-run partnership even as J Duminy was successful to make his presence felt by striking a half century after their side won the toss and elected to bat. Duminy (59) was caught off a Nizamuddin delivery. Nizamuddin was also responsible to stop Villiers eight runs short of his double-century. The Bangladeshi returned the figures of 2-79. Khan gifted his wicket to Saqlain. Unable to chase the big total, Bangladesh collapsed for paltry 119 in 33.3 overs. Thanks to disciplined bowling from the winning side. Henrich picked four wickets conceding mere 31 runs in 8.3 overs. A Phangiso and Thyssen also bowled splendidly and took two wickets each at the expense of 25 and 16 runs respectively Nizamuddin showed his committment in batting, too. Coming fourth in batting order he remained unbeaten at 45. Rasel Parvez (26) and Mustfigur (18) were the only other batsmen to score in double figures for the Bangladesh. Villier was adjudged the Man of the Match as also he received the honour of the Man of the Series and the Best Batsman. Bangladesh's Parvez was the Best Wicketkeeper while India's Vikram Dhariwal received a consolation prize. | |
