Kalicharan praises Indian batting line-up
Friday, January 16 2004 10:07 Hrs (IST)

Pune:Heaping praise on the Indian cricket team legendary former West Indian cricket captain Alvin Kalicharan said the Indian batting line-up has become one of the best in the world.

Kalicharan, who was invited by the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) to guide the Under 17, 19, 22 and Ranji Trophy teams said "the performance of the Indian team has considerably improved and that the team was not dependent on Sachin Tendulkar alone".

The match with Australia has proved that there are other dependable batsmen as well such as Laxman, Dravid and Ganguly, he told.

The former West Indian star said, "they played quite an attacking game which was quite commendable". Kalicharan was recently in Puttaparthi in Andhra Pradesh with Sri Sathya Sai Baba his spiritual guru and also visited Shirdi before arriving in the city.
