Indian colts to play Scotland in World Cup opener

Mumbai:Indian Under-19 colts, who are placed in Group C, will play minnows Scotland at the Bangabandhu National Stadium (BNS) on February 16 in their opening league match of the ICC cricket World Cup to be playedin Bangladesh from February 15 to March 6.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) joint secretary ProfRatnakar Shetty, said in Mumbai that the second league match would be against New Zealand at the same ground on February 18 and the third and final league tie would be against hosts Bangladesh at BNS on February 20.

"Sixteen teams have been divided into four groups (four teams in each group) in the league stages and two teams from each group will make it to the Super League while the bottom two teams from each group will qualify to play in the Plate championship which will be on a league basis in two groups," he added.

"The top two teams from each group (eight teams) would be further divided into two group of four teams each and the Super League (to be played on league basis) and the Plate championship will be played simultaneously from February 22 to 27," Shetty said.

"Top two teams from each of the Super League group will qualify for the Super League semi-finals while the top two teams from each of the Plate championship will qualify for the Plate semi-finals to be held from February 29 to March 2," he added.

"The Plate championship final would be held at BNS on March 4 while the Super League final would be played at the Fatullah Cricket Stadium (FCS) on March 5 with March 6 being the reserve day in case of rain. "
