Kapil Dev advises U-19 lads to give 100%

Mumbai:Former Indian skipper Kapil Dev has advised the Under-19 World Cup squad to give their best shot irrespective of winning or losing the Cup.

At a function organised by ACE Awards to interact with the Bangladesh bound Indian team led by Ambati Rayudu, Kapil Dev said, "Wearing the Indian colours will be a proud moment for all of you and each one of you should do justice by giving hundred per cent on and off the field".

"I am extremely privileged to be in Mumbai, as it gives me an opportunity to interact with our future cricketing stars. It is a very gratifying experience when youngsters like you look up to me for guidance," he added.

"As a member of the ACE jury I am looking forward to such events where we can provide our support and encouragement to our young cricketers and award them for their excellence in cricket through this platform," Kapil said. Incidentally, the first ACE Awards for excellence in cricket is scheduled to be held in October in Mumbai and one of the U-19 cricketer will be given a cash award of Rs 5000 per month for a period of one year.

Former Test stars Dilip Sardesai, Eknath Solkar and Paras Mhambrey also interacted with the boys.

The ACE jury comprises eleven cricketing legends -- Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi (chairman), Alvin Kallicharran, Asif Iqbal, Tony Greig, Barry Richards, Kapil Dev, Allan Border, Arjuna Ranatunga, Sir Richard Hadlee, Wasim Akram and umpire Dickie Bird.
