|PCB delays announcing sponsor's name|
Sunday, February 8 2004 10:34 Hrs (IST)
Some objections were raised at the PCB's Bid's Committee meeting alleging that two of the bidding parties had submitted their bids to the Independent Auditor few minutes after the PCB's deadline of 1000 hours.
"The objections were noted and the meeting informed that they would be duly considered. The Bids Committee also stated that all the bids received will be announced on February 9, after the conditionalities in the bids had been studied," a PCB statement said.
But PCB chairman Sharyar Khan in a statement said "the PCB is determined to uphold the principles of transparency and financial integrity in all its actions and that the bid submission ceremony for the tenders was part of this process."
The sealed tenders were opened at PCB headquarters in front of 12 bidding parties and all the bids in each tender were registered with the independent auditor.
The 12 companies from Pakistan, India, the United Arab Emirates and Singapore - bidding for title sponsorship, co-title sponsorship, in-stadia advertising, radio commentary rights, food and beverages, ticketing and internet coverage - were informed that the conditions included in their tenders would be studied by PCB's Bid Committee.
