|Jadeja, Bhatia star in Delhi's win against TN|
Tuesday, February 10 2004 14:25 Hrs (IST)
Riding on fine performances of the two batsmen, Delhi piled up 279 for five in 50 overs, and then stopped Tamil Nadu at 260 in 47.4 overs at the Jadavpur University Campus, Salt Lake.
Jadeja (104) and Bhatia (106 not out) came together with the score reading 56 for two after the departure of openers A Chopra (0) and M Tehlan (42), and smashed the rival bowling attack to smithereens, unleashing a wide range of aggressive strokes.
They remained unseparated for 131 minutes, till R Ramkumar broke the marathon stand, with wicket keeper P Mathews doing a smart bit of stumping to remove Jadeja.
Tamil Nadu's reply revolved around two half-century stands - 65 for the second- wicket between Anirudh Srikanth (34) and S Suresh (54) and 69 for fifth-wicket between S Badrinath (48) and K Vadudeva Das (35) - but in the end, it was not enough to overhaul the Delhi total.
Delhi now have 8 points from three matches, while Tamil Nadu are on 4 points. Brief scores:
Delhi 279 for five in 50 overs (R Bhatia 106, A Jadeja 104), Tamil Nadu 260 all out in 47.4 overs (S Suresh 54, S Badrinath 48; R Sanghvi 3/31).
