Aussies improve ICC ratings, India unchanged
Tuesday, February 10 2004 15:18 Hrs (IST)

London:Australia's convincing 2-0 victory against India in the final of the VB Series has enabled the world champions to improve their rating at the top of the International Cricket Council's (ICC) One-day International (ODI) championship table to an incredible 137 points.

Their rating is now one point higher than when they won the ICC Cricket World Cup in South Africa last year without losing a match, reflecting their continued dominance of the ODI game.

India's record of five wins and five defeats in the tri-series which concluded in Sydney, meant that their rating remained unchanged, according to the ratings released by the ICC.

India went into the series in sixth place with a rating of 105 and though it climbed the table briefly after beating Australia in Brisbane, four successive defeats to the hosts ensured their rating was pegged back to the previous level by the end of the finals.

ICC ODI championship table:

Pos Team Rating

1 Australia 137

2 South Africa 119

3 Pakistan 107

4 Sri Lanka 107

5 England 106

6 India 105

7 New Zealand 102

8 West Indies 100

9 Zimbabwe 66

10 Kenya 28

11 Bangladesh 0.
