Vadodara:Rookie paceman Irfan Pathan, who had a successful One-day tri-series in Australia, said he wants to excel in Pakistan by improving on his performance in the upcoming series next month.

"The performance in Australia was beyond my expectations but I will try to further improve it during the Pakistan tour next month," he told after his return to home.

"During Pakistan tour I want to make my country proud with my performance," said Pathan, who acknowledged that the tips given by Pakistani legend Wasim Akram helped him a lot Down-Under.

As per the advice of Indian team physiotherapist Andrew Leipus "I am taking 2-3 days' rest after which I will concentrate on my training," he said. The 19-year-old, who bowled at the pace of 141 kms in Australia, was very excited on taking the wickets of Steve Waugh, Matthew Hayden and Adam Gilchrist on his debut tour. He took 16 wickets in the VB series One-day matches and four wickets in the Tests series before that.

He said he would take advise from former coaches Kapil Dev and Anshuman Gaekwad, former seamer Javagal Srinath and others for learning more techniques to improve his bowling.

"Now I want to concentrate on swing," he said adding, "The Australia tour also helped me to learn a lot about International cricket." Pathan said he felt great on receiving the Man of the Match award against Zimbabwe at Perth, where he captured four wickets giving 24 runs.
