Saturday, February 14 2004 20:35 Hrs (IST)

Jalandhar:Off-spinner Harbhajan Singh on Saturday welcomed the Government's decision to give green signal for India's tour of Pakistan but regretted that he would not be part of the squad as he was still recovering from the finger injury.

"It (giving green signal to the tour) is a welcome step... However, it is sad that I will not be able to join the Indian squad in this tour, as I am still recovering from my injury," Harbhajan said.

"I will miss the a historic movement of playing with Pakistan in their homeland but hope that the new relatioship in the cricket will continue and I will be able to play in the next tour," he added.

The off-spinner sustained a finger injury in the first Test against Australia and was out of action since then.

Exuding confidence that the Indian team would perform well in the series, Harbhajan said the team should not take their Pakistani counterparts lightly as they have some really world class players.
