BCCI team to brief Dalmiya on Pak visit
Friday, February 20 2004 18:37 Hrs (IST)

Kolkata:The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is expected to informally discuss details of the Pakistan tour including the itinerary when two members of the BCCI delegation that went to the neighbouring nation recently, call on BCCI president Jagmohan Dalmiya.

BCCI joint secretary Ratnakar Shetty and communications director Amrit Mathur, who spent eight days in Pakistan to see the arrangements in Pakistan ahead of the Indian team's forthcoming tour, flew into the city from Mumbai and Delhi respectively, and are expected to brief Dalmiya on their assessment of the various facilities in the neighbouring nation.

''We will meet Mr. Dalmiya and brief him on whatever we saw and learnt about the various arrangements and facilities in Pakistan during our visit,'' Shetty said.

However, he said that the security matters were handled by Intelligence Bureau joint director Yashovardhan Azad, the third member of the delegation. ''It was entirely his responsibility. Mathur and myself assessed the facilities for the players and the media''.

Shetty, however, said that the BCCI was yet to receive any communication from the Government spelling out its stand on the report submitted by the three-member team.

''We are awaiting a communication from the Government in this regard. This report is awaited in a day or two. We can make headway on finalising the various details only after that,'' he said.
