Pakistan wins Under-19 World Cup

Dhaka:Pakistan beat West Indies by 25 runs in a nail biting finish to clinch the Under-19 World Cup title.

In the match played under lights at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka, electing to bat first, Pakistan made 230 for nine wickets in the stipulated 50 overs. Asif Iqbal top scored with 54, while Salman Qadir made 42. For the Windies, Rishi Bachan was the most economical bowler scalping three wickets for 34 runs in his ten overs.

In reply, the Windies colts could manage only 225 before being bowled out in the 48th over. D Ramdin's 36 was the innings best. For Pakistan, Tariq Mahmood returned figures of three for 34.

Pakistan's Asif Iqbal was adjudged the Man of the Match, while the Player of the Tournament honour went to India's Shikar Dhawan.
