Board President's XI beats Windies
Saturday, March 6 2004 20:00 Hrs (IST)

Kanpur:A superb bowling performance by Vandana Gupta saw women's Board President XI beat the visiting West Indies by five wickets in a Limited Over One-day cricket match in Kanpur on Saturday.

Vandana claimed five for 12 runs as Board President XI dismissed the visitors for 112 in 36.1 overs before notching up the required runs in 37.5 overs for the loss of five wickets.

Electing to bat, the West Indies batswomen struggled against some accurate bowing by the home side particularly Vandana who played havoc in her six over spell.

For West Indies Juliana Nero scored top scored with 25 while Candacy Adkins (17), captain Stephanie Power (14) and Veren Felicien (11) could reach the double figures.

For the Board President XI, Laxmi Priya claimed two wickets while Rumeli Dhar, Priti Dimri and Rajeshwari Goel returned with one wicket apiece.

The home side got off to a shaky start when it lost two wickets -- K Sindhu and Ketki Puntamaker -- for just 20 runs.

Captain Priyanka Shelly (28), Kamakshi (21) and Rumeli Dhar (21) made valuable contributions to take the score near the target.

Dipika Babu (17 not out) and Player of the Match Vandana Gupta (6 not out) took the team to victory with over 12 overs to spare.

For the visitors, Verena Felicien, Indomatie Goordial, and Anisa Mohammed captured one wicket each.

India takes unassailable 3-0 lead
