Tranquebar:A 85-year old man, a retired teacher, a staunch cricket fan, died on Sunday, reportedly due to the "pleasant shock" of India winning the One-dayer against Pakistan, family sources said on Monday.

The man, Govindasami has been an avid cricket lover since his boyhood days and was glued to the TV showing the live relay of the match.

The sources said Govindasami had not taken any food since morning, praying to God for India's victory. At one juncture, when Indians lost four wickets, the man had spent anxious moments.

However, when Indian vice-Captain Rahul Dravid and Mohammed Kaif contained the downslide and started instilling confidence, the old man became very happy and expressed his joy vocally. But suddenly the man breathed his last, in the very chair he was watching the match, the sources said.
