"We are very happy about his phenomenal achievement and we are confident he would break many such records in future," Sehwag's brother Vinod said.
"Veeru's triple ton is a befitting reply to his detractors who claim that he is not capable of standing the rigours of Test cricket."
Sehwag's mother Krishna commended the performance and said she was expecting such a knock from her son. "I was confident that Veeru would be doing something momentous today. Today being Durga Ashtami, Veeru had the blessings of the divine. I am very happy with his performance but I would be happier still if Veeru's ton helps India win the Test match."
It was not a happy moment for Sehwag's family alone. The opener's coach A N Sharma was equally ecstatic with the achievement of his ward.
"Sehwag has a phenomenal hand-eye coordination. Players like him are very special. Even though he looks to be a very free scoring batsman, Sehwag is mentally very strong and he has the ability to play long innings," Sharma said.
"His confidence has definitely grown after his Australian tour."
