Samim Banu said that all the Muslims from the locality, including Irfan's father Mehboob Khan Pathan, offered Namaz (prayer) at the famous Jama Masjid and hoped that Irfan would be included in the team and it will be victorious in second One-dayer. She said they offered prayers for all the 15 members of the team because "they are our children".
Mehboob said he was sure about Irfan's inclusion in the team because of his good performance during the Australia tour and India needing one more bowler against Pakistan for strengthening its bowling department. His family members were not aware of finding of a powerful bomb from Karachi when the Indian team had already left for Islamabad.
Meanwhile, Muslims and Hindus together performed a yagna in Anand town about 40km away from and prayed for the team's success in the entire ongoing series. In Ahmedabad, seven feet Agarbatti (Insence stick) was lit at the Gujarat Cricket Association Stadium to wish the team victory in the next One-dayer.
