Kolkata:Mohammed Kaif will join the Indian team in Pakistan as replacement for skipper Saurav Ganguly, who has been ruled out of the second Test and isflying back for a medical check-up.

Kaif has been kept as a reserve when the team for the three-match Test series had been announced on March 22, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Jagmohan Dalmiya said in Kolkata.

He said that since Ganguly was not showing any improvement it was decided to have him checked up by the doctor under whose treatment he had been.

Ganguly is expected to arrive in Kolkata on April 1.

Dalmiya, however, said that Ganguly might re-join the team in Pakistan after treatment, but everything would depend on the doctor's advice.

Kaif was a member of the Indian One-day squad and had come back after the five-match One-day series which Indian won 3-2.
