Mumbai:Stating that it was a big challenge to play Indians in a Test series, Aussie skipper Ricky Ponting said on Tuesday that he and the rest of the Australian team were looking forward to the four-match Test series in India later this year.

Ponting said after being conferred Cricket Club of India's (CCI) honourary life membership from former Test star Polly Umrigar that "I am looking forward to the series in September-October and I am sure my colleagues back home too will be raring to go.

"When we toured India last time, they (Indians) gave us a hard time and even in Australia the Indians played very well to square the series 1-all in the four-match series.

"Even today they fought back well against Pakistan in the second Test at Lahore to reach a respectable total, so I think it is always a pleasure to play the Indians in Test matches".

Speaking about the membership Ponting said, "It is a big honour for me to get this membership as CCI has one of the best cricket grounds (Brabourne Stadium), a fine club house and a marvellous surrounding".

"I will be coming with my wife for the Test series later this year and I hope I can enjoy my stay here as I am told the rooms are done up very well", he added.

Welcoming Ponting, former chief of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and CCI president Raj Singh Dungarpur said that it was an honour to have one of the most aggressive batsmen in the world and the captain of the Aussie team as the member of the club.
