Islamabad:The fate of national team coach Javed Miandad and manager Haroon Rasheed hangs in balance as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Shaharyar Khan has decided to take any decision in this regard sometime in mid-May.

"The PCB chairman had called a two-day in-house meeting to discuss the performance of the team in the series against India and other important matters and decided to now call these key meetings after first week of May," local media quoted Board officials as saying.

The official, however, said Shaharyar has instructed to issue advertisements from next week for the position of a qualified fitness trainer.

"A week's time will be given for prospective candidates from within Pakistan and abroad to submit their CVs and applications with the Board and a decision on the appointment of a new fitness trainer would also be announced in mid-May."

The decision to invite applications from qualified fitness trainers means virtually the end of the road for Dr Tauseef Razzak, who left the squad after the second Test.

The source also disclosed that Shaharyar had until now given no hint about his plans on Miandad and Haroon and whether to make other key appointments like that of a fielding and bowling coach.

"The interesting thing is that in the last two days in the Board, the chairman has thrown up names of foreign coaches like Dav Whatmore and Geoff Marsh to gauge the general reaction to such an idea. But he does not appear in favour of changing Miandad or Haroon at this stage," the source said.
