New Delhi:India's historic triumph over Pakistan in the recently concluded One-day and Test series might have won them accolades, but they have to win more matches to qualify as the best Indian Test team ever, legendary cricketer Kapil Dev said.

"The current team stands right on top and they are playing very well, but they have to win a lot more matches to be termed as the best Test team that India has ever had," Kapil said at the nomination ceremony of the Hero Indian Sports Awards in New Delhi.

On the performance of Irfan Pathan, the new pace sensation who seems to be shaping into the mould of an all-rounder, Kapil said, "He has played very well and if he turns out better than me I will be happier still."

Although praising the "excellent performance" of the bowlers during the Pakistan series, the former Indian captain conceded that the players are "playing too many matches these days" which is bound to take its toll on their fitness.

"They (bowlers) have to work harder, for better performance," he added.
