Put in to bat, India made 178 for the loss of five wickets in the stipulated 50 overs with opener Anju Jain top scoring with 64. Jaya Sharma and Anjum Chopra contributed 34 and 29 respectively. For the hosts, S Sirivardane was the pick of the bowlers scalping two wickets for 34 runs in her allotted quota of 10 overs.
In reply, the hosts were bundled out for a paltry 84. For the visitors, Deepa Kulkarni did most of the damage with figures of 3 for 3 from 10 overs while bowling amazing seven maiden overs in the process. Only R Fernando offered some resistance with 25 as the hosts innings folded in the 45th over.
