Mushtaq Ali receives pension

Indore:Wisden special award winner and former Test cricketer, Mushtaq Ali was handed over a cheque of Rs 5,000 as the first monthly pension awarded by theBoard of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

The cheque was given to Mushtaq Ali by Madhya Pradesh Association (MPCA) vice president, Ram Gopal Bidasaria in the presence of national selector Sanjay Jagdale and senior office bearers, including Ashok Kumut and Subhash Bayas among others,at a function at the legendry cricketer's residence in Indore.

Overwhelmed by the BCCI's gesture, Mushtaq Ali said: "I am really thankful to BCCI president, Jagmohan Dalmiya for giving Rs 5,000 pension per month to the former cricketers and umpires."

Ali described the amount sanctioned as "quite good" and added that the decision would be very beneficial to large number of former cricketers in the country.

Besides Mushtaq Ali and his cricketer son Gulrej Ali other members of the family were present on the occasion.
