Mumbai:All national level umpires, including A V Jayaprakash who has officiated in Test matches, are to undergo practical and viva examination to be conducted by retired Indian umpires in Mumbai this month end.

All umpires currently on the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Ranji Trophy panels have to go through this process from May 29-31. At present there are 115 umpires on the two panels, which includes 18 former first class cricketers.

The five examiners are: M V Gothoskar, V K Ramaswamy, Subroto Banerjee, Prof R S Rathore and S K Bansal.

Meanwhile, the date and venue for next month's one day conclave of the Ranji Trophy captains' and coaches is expected to be decided on May 29. National Cricket Academy (NCA) chairman Sunil Gavaskar is likely to chair the conclave.
