Chappell's services would be used for the national team as well as the players at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore.
"The PCB has hired the services of Australian great Greg Chappell as a consultant who will also coach the players in the academics for one month in a year," PCB chairman Shaharyar Khan said in a press conference after a meeting with a senate committee on Saturday.
PCB has also roped in another Australian Daryll Foster as bowling coach and efforts were on to rope in South African great Barry Richards.
A PCB spokesperson said the Board already has confirmation from Foster who would be arriving in Lahore on June 24 on an initial 16-day stint and that negotiation with Richards for a "similar contract" was on.
"The idea is to utilise the services of Chappell, Foster and others not only in the National Cricket Academy but also, if required, for the senior team under the contractual terms," he said.
Talks with Chappell were initiated by PCB when he was in Lahore recently to attend the Asian Cricket Council development seminar.
