Jaipur :External Affairs minister K Natwar Singh believes that cricket should be kept out of politics.

"Sports should be kept out of politics," Singh said when asked about improving relations with Pakistan through cricket.

He also said his party would not let politics "affect" the game of cricket between India and Pakistan.

"Congress always maintained that politics should not affect the game of cricket between the two countries and we still believe in it," he said.

He opined that a cricket team consisting of players from The SAARC countries can certainly be the best in the world.

The SAARC cricket team consisting of players from India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka can be the best team in the world, said Singh while interacting with media persons at the residence of Rajasthan pradesh congress committee vice-president Janardan Singh Gehlot in Jaipur.

However, Singh said he did not know if it is possible to form such a team.
