Kolkata:The trial of five doctors of a Government hospital for allegedly causing death of a young cricketer due to negligence in treatment had to be adjourned on Friday as the father of the deceased fell ill while deposing before the Judge.

Manoj Patel, father of deceased Rajnish Patel, while appearing before the sub-divisional judicial magistrate, broke down repeatedly while describing the horror of five operations his only son had to undergo for just a shinbone fracture, which led to his death. The examination of Manoj, who could manage to describe four of the five operations in two days, would continue on Saturday.

Manoj, appearing before the sub-divisional judicial magistrate Manjit Singh, on Saturday said in his submission how puss and blood were oozing out of his son's left leg after it was operated for the fourth time on April 16 last year.

After this, Manoj started weeping inconsolably and the court was adjourned for some time for the father to regain his composure.

However, after some time when the court sat again, Manoj informed the judge that he was unwell and would not be able to depose any more. Following this, the judge adjourned the hearing till Sunday.

The budding fast bowler had been admitted to the state-run SSKM Hospital after suffering an injury while playing and died on June 2 after five operations for a broken shinbone.
