Kolkata:Former and current players of India and Pakistan are slated to take part in an exhibition three-match cricket series to be played in the country in October.

Disclosing this, Union Heavy Industries minister Santosh Mohan Deb said that Pakistani stars like Saeed Anwar, Abdul Qadir and Rashid Latif would participate in the series which has been christened Kapil-Wasim Rishta Cup named after two great all-rounders from the two nations.

Deb said that Kapil and Gavaskar had taken the initiative for the friendlies, which would further help in fostering the relations between the two neighbours.

The friendlies would be staged in Silchar, Deb's hometown, Hyderabad and Gwalior/Delhi, he said.

The Indian team would include Kapil, Jadeja and Sanjay Bangar, while efforts were on to get former Indian skipper Mohammed Azharuddin to play, Deb added.
