London:Dinesh Mongia, playing as a replacement for Carl Hooper for English County team Lancashire, missed a century on debut by 11 runs, but did enough to help his side take a slender lead against Warwickshire in a First Division match at Stratford.

Replying to table-toppers Warwickshire's first innings score of 499, Lancashire were bowled out for 508 on the third day of the match.

Mongia played a crucial part in his side taking the lead as he shared a fourth wicket partnership of 171 runs with innings top scorer Mal Loya (184) before being dismissed at 333.

Before an in-swinging Ian Bell delivery cut short Mongia's innings, the Indian had faced 118 balls for his knock, built with the help of 14 fours and two sixes.
