Sachin's efforts reap rich dividends

Bangalore:Sachin Tendulkar's initiative to help thousands of people suffering from eye ailments is beginning to bear fruit with over 80 patients having received treatment free of cost at the Dr Agarwal's Hospital in Bangalore.

Tendulkar, who inaugurated the state-of-the-art centre last year, is an avowed supporter of the cause and has even impressed on the authorities to provide free treatment to all international and national cricketers.

Launched under the "Sachin Tendulkar Foundation" scheme, the programme aims at conducting surgeries on at least 100 patients free of cost every year.Since November 2003, the hospital has treated 80 patients.

Details of every patient treated at the hospital are forwarded to Tendulkar periodically.
