Hodge steers Leicestershire to Twenty20 Cup win

Birmingham:Leicestershire beat defending champions Surrey by seven wickets in a thrilling final to claim the Twenty20 Cup at Edgbaston.

Replying to Surrey's total of 168 for six from their 20 overs on Saturday, Leicestershire reached 169 for three with five balls to spare to become the second winners of the trophy.

Brad Hodge, Leicestershire's Australian captain, was the hero of the day, scoring an unbeaten 77 to steer his side to victory. Ali Brown top-scored for Surrey with 64.

Surrey had squeezed into the final with a one-run victory over Lancashire in their semi-final earlier in the day while Leicestershire beat Glamorgan by 21 runs to secure their final spot.
