BCCI announces schedule for Junior tourneys

Mumbai:The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the dates of the various Junior cricket tournaments, beginning with the Vinoo Mankad Trophy (Under-19) on October 23.

Mumbai will take on Baroda in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy (Under-19) West Zone One-day league tournament at Vadodara on October 24.

"The Under-19 tournament, to be held at Vadodara, will start on October 23 with Saurashtra taking on Maharashtra and Gujarat clashing against Baroda. The second match on October 24 will see Saurashtra take on Gujarat," Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) joint secretary Prof Ratnakar Shetty said in Mumbai.

"Mumbai will play their second match against Maharashtra while Saurashtra will clash against Baroda on October 26 while Gujarat play Mumbai and Maharashtra take on Baroda on following day with the last set of league matches between Saurashtra and Mumbai and Maharashtra and Gujarat slated for October 29," he added.

The West Zone Col C K Nayudu Trophy (Under-22) league will be held at various West Zone venues from November 24 to December 16 with Maharashtra taking on Saurashtra at Rajkot and Baroda clashing with Gujarat at Ahmedabad from November 24-26.

Mumbai will play their first match against Saurashtra at Rajkot from November 29 to December 1 while Maharashtra take on Baroda at Ahmedabad on same dates.

The Vijay Merchant Trophy (Under-17) West Zone league (three-day ties) would be held from December 12 to January 5, 2005 at various West Zone venues while Polly Umrigar Trophy (Under-15) West Zone league (three-day matches) would be held from October 25 to November 17 at various West Zone venues.
