London:Canada will play Bermuda in a three-day cricket match in Toronto on Friday to secure a place in the semifinals of the International Cricket Council (ICC) Intercontinental Cup.

Canada are on second place behind USA in the America group and Bermuda may face an improbable task to overtake its regional rival to advance ahead, according to an ICC release on Wednesday.

The Asia and Africa semifinalists would be decided when Malaysia will meet Kuala Lumpur from September 17 to 19 and Kenya and Namibia battle in Nairobi from October 1 to 3.

Scotland defeated Ireland last week to become the first one from the European group to reach the last four stage. Holland was the other country in this group.

The top team from matches played in each of the four regions progress to the semifinals in the United Arab Emirates in November.

The tournament is a novel effort for the ICC associate member countries below Test match level.

To encourage players, the first innings of each side is restricted to 90 overs and a minimum of 105 overs must be bowled on the opening two days of the match.
