BCCI appoints Reliance as official IT partner

Kolkata:Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday announced a multi-crore tie up with Reliance Industries Ltd for setting up a hi-tech communication facility for the Board for overall betterment of sports in the country.

Announcing this in Kolkata on Monday, BCCI president Jagmohan Dalmiya said that Reliance Industries would be given the status of 'official IT partner' of the Board.

The company, he said, would carry out a Rupees five to seven crore project for setting up state-of-the-art communication facilities and technical support system like video conferencing, for technical matters pertaining to age determination of players, injury problems, ground and wicket preparations, among others.

''The Board decided to bring IT in a big way for improvement of sports. We had approached the Reliance Industries for the project and they agreed to extend a supporting hand,'' Dalmiya said after a BCCI working committee meeting in Kolkata.
