Thiruvananthapuram:The venue for the opening tie of the touring Australian team against the Ranji champions Mumbai has been shifted from Hyderabad to Mumbai.

The match would now be played at the Brabourne stadium, Mumbai from September 30 to October 2, S K Nair, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary, said in a press release in Thiruvananthapuram on Monday.

The match, which was scheduled to be held at the newly constructed stadium in Hyderabad, was shifted as it appeared that the ground and other facilities prepared at the venue could not be tested despite the best efforts of the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) officials, Nair said.

"With only 10 days to go before the important match for both the teams, we did not want to take chances and decided to shift the match to Mumbai," Nair said.
