London:Pakistan paceman Shoaib Akhtar is negotiating a new deal with English County Worcestershire. According to a report published in the The News newspaper, the 'Rawlpindi Express' did not return with his teammates and stayed back in England after its semi-final defeat at the hands of West Indies.

"Shoaib has obtained permission to stay back for a few more days as he wanted to have talks with a few counties for a likely contract next season," the Pakistan team's manager, Haroon Rasheed, was quoted as saying.

It may be mentioned that the ace quickie had played the last two seasons in the English County Championship for Durham.
