Indian Players gearing up for warm-up match
Monday, September 27 2004 15:58 Hrs (IST)

Bangalore:After below-par performance in three One-day tournaments, India's top cricketers are expected to go all out to get into the right frame of mind in the four-day practice game between India Seniors and India 'A' commencing in Bangalore on Tuesday, ahead of the first Test against Australia starting on October 6.

With Australians already in their backyard, Test regulars would be looking to utilise the opportunity to strike form and get their acts together at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.

And for those waiting in the wings to break into the squad, this is a chance to turn in impressive performances to catch the attention and place themselves on a better footing.

Focus would also be on Aakash Chopra and Yuvraj Singh with skipper Sourav Ganguly saying last week that whoever performs is going to be picked in the 14-member squad.

Paceman Zaheer Khan, who is hoping to return to the side, as well as three wicketkeepers Parthiv Patel, Dinesh Karthik and Mahendra Singh Dhoni -- are bound to come under the special scrutiny of the selectors.

India Seniors: Sourav Ganguly (Captain), Aakash Chopra, Virender Sehwag, Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman, Yuvraj Singh, Parthiv Patel, Harbhajan Singh, Irfan Pathan, Anil Kumble, Zaheer Khan, Dinesh Karthik, Ambati Rayudu and Siddarth Trivedi.

India 'A': Dinesh Mongia (Captain), Dheeraj Jadhav, Gautam Gambhir, Mohammad Kaif, Sridharan Sriram, M S Dhoni, S S Paul, Murali Kartik, Amit Bhandari, Ashish Nehra, Joginder Sharma, Sarandeep Singh, Kiran Pawar and Y Venugopal Rao.
