Kolkata:The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) today decided in principle to grant associate membership to Chhatisgarh, Uttaranchal and Bihar.

Announcing the decision after an adjourned two-day annual general meeting of the BCCI, president Ranbir Singh Mahendra told newspersons that the three states would now have to fulfil the required conditions as per rules.

"The Board today decided in principle to grant associate membership affiliation to Bihar, Chhattishgarh and Uttaranchal, subject to fulfilment of the required conditions under the rules," Mahendra said in his first press conference after being elected as the BCCI chief.

The Board empowered the working committee to take a final decision on the matter.
