Kapali to lead BCB XI against Kiwis

Dhaka:Promising Bangladesh middle-order batsman Alok Kapali was named captain of the Bangladesh Cricket Board XI that will take on New Zealand in a tour opener later this month.

Kapali, who was recalled to the national probables camp after being dumped for the ICC Champions Trophy following a slump in form, will get a photo opportunity to not only get amongst the runs as well convince the selectors that he is ready for the battles ahead.

The BCB XI squad features three others with Test experience - Talha Jubair, Alamgir Kabir and Anwar Hosain Monir, all medium pacers. Jubair is making a comeback after a gap of two years, after being made to cool his heels following a back injury.

Offie Jamaluddin Ahmed, who has played one-day cricket, has also been drafted into the squad, as does four cricketers from the Bangladesh under-19 team. Shahadat Hossain Rajib, the 18-year old touted to be the quickest in the country, may also get a look in against the Kiwis.

The three-day match would be held at the Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan (BKSP) from October 14-16.
