The 29-year-old injury-prone tearaway bowler reportedly told a local newspaper that he should be back with the red cherry in eight weeks time.
The Kiwi fast bowler, who underwent a complicated back operation on August 19 last, is aiming to play club cricket soon after Christmas.
His most likely international appearance could be against Trans-tasman rivals Australia when they undertake a tour of New Zealand in February 2005 for a series of three Tests and five One-day Internationals.
The Kiwi bowler, however, conceded that his career will come to an premature end if his back fails again.
"My true test will come when I resume bowling. However, if his back fails, I know that's probably it. I reckon I could live with the fact that that I have tried everything within my power," Bond was quoted as saying in a local newspaper.
