London:The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is close to finding a new chief executive after seasoned Tim Lamb stepped down after serving in the same post for the past seven-and-a half-years.

According to highly-placed ECB sources, nine candidates have been short-listed and the interview process was expected to completed by next week. Surprisingly, the identities of the short-listed candidates have been kept under wraps.

Former England Test batsman Hugh Morris is currently serving as the acting ECB chief executive.

It may be pertinent to mention that former executive Lamb came in for lot of flak for his handling of the row over England's Novemnber tour of Zimbabwe.
