Colombo:The Sri Lankan selectors have wielded the axed on promising middle order batsman Tillakaratne Dilshan for the upcoming two-Test series against Pakistan commencing later this month.

The right-hander's spot in the side looked in jeopardy after the latter's failed to register a fifty in his last fourthteen innings.

Veteran dashing wicketkeeper batsman Romesh Kaluwitharana has been included in the 15-member Test squad announced here.

Kaluwitharana, who would keep wickets during the Tests so that Kumar Sangakkara, who has doing the wicketkeeping duties in the on-going Paktel Cup, could concentrate on his batting.

Left-hander Jehan Mubarak, uncapped opener Ian Daniel and uncapped middle order batsman Thilina Kandamby have been drafted to the side after their good performances for the Sri Lankan 'A' side. Rookie fast bowler Lasith Malinga, also staged a comeback after being dropped from the team for the ongoing Paktel Cup One-day tri-series tourney.

Leg spinner Upul Chandana and left-arm spinner Rangana Herath would have to shoulders the spin bowling responsibilities in absence of star spinner Muttiah Muralitharan, who is recuperating from a shoulder operation.

The series begins in Faisalabad on October 20, while the second Test gets underway at Karachi on October 28.
