London:Both India and Pakistan have a chance to climb to the second position in ICC Test rankings if they win their respective Test series against Australia and Sri Lanka.

Although Australia is the clear leader in the official standings, there are five sides fighting for second spot.

India could tally 111 points with a 2-1 win over Australia while Pakistan will have to win its two-Test series against Sri Lanka 2-0, according to the latest ICC release on Test rankings.

England, who are now second, may lose their position to either India or Paksitan, it said.

Pakistan plays Sri Lanka in the Test series starting at Faisalabad on Wednesday and must win both matches to improve their rating from 105 to 110 and overtake England by one point.

Sri Lanka will fall just short of second if it wins this series against Pakistan. A 2-0 win will put Sri Lanka third on 108 points while a 1-0 win will boost its rating to 106.

England and South Africa will vie for the second spot when they play a five-match Test series in December.
