Bennett King tipped to be WI overseas coach

Bridgetown:Australian cricket academy head coach Bennett King is set to become the first overseas coach of West Indies, replacing former Windies middle-order batsman Gus Logie, who was given the chop even before the completion of his contract.

A former physical education teacher and a first-grade club player, the 39-year-old King reportedly accepted the offer and the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) was expected to announce the decision early next week.

King, who replaced replaced John Buchanan as Queensland's coach when he took over as coach of the team Australia.

He guided the Bulls to the Pura Milk Cup in the first season and followed it with two more trophies in consecutive years before taking over the Academy reins from Rod Marsh who shifted to England.

It may be mentioned that former Aussie great Greg Chappell and English County Sussex coach Peter Moores, were also interviewed for the position.
