Karachi:Star Sri Lankan off-spinner Muttiah Muralitharan, who has been laid low with a prolonged shoulder injury since last playing against South Africa at home in August, will stage a much-awaited comeback in the forthcoming Test series against New Zealand in January next year

Sri Lankan Board president Mohan De Silva said here that the champion offie's rehab has come off well and added that he should be available for the second Test against Kiwis.

"Murli is recuperating well from his shoulder injury. He will be consulting his surgeon in November. I'm pretty confident that he would be available for selection for second Test against New Zealand slated for January 22," De Silva said here.

Sri Lanka start their tour of New Zealand in December. The Lankans will play two Tests besides five one-day internationals during their two-month tour.
