Chennai:On a rain-truncated day, Hyderabad were 83 for five in the first innings against Tamil Nadu in the 43 overs that were possible on the first day of the four day National Ranji Trophy Elite 'B' league cricket match here today.

Electing to bat, when play began well past Lunch session, Hyderabad lost opener Daniel Manohar caught by skipper Hemang K Badani at second slip off medium pacer M.R Srinivas.

The other opener, Nanda Kishore, too did not last long, leaving Hyderabad at 26 for 2. He made 20 when he was caught by left-arm spinner Ram Kumar off his own bowling.

D Vinay Kumar and A.T.Rayudu looked to be settling down but the latter drove straight to Vidyuth at mid-on and tried to go for a non-existent single and was run out for 13.

Vinay Kumar too was dismissed caught at mid-off by Suresh off Ram Kumar and this put Hyderabad in a pathetic position at 58 for 4. Arjun Yadav, who survived a chance, was caught behind by Dinesh Karthik off Ram Kumar.

Brief Scores: Hyderabad (Ist innings) 83 for five (D.Vinay Kumar 17, Arjun Yadav 20, Anirudh Singh batting 8, Ibrahim Khaleel batting 4 and Ram Kumar 3/25).
