Ahmedabad:Delhi suffered a dramatic batting collapse in the second innings but just about managed to hold hosts Gujarat to a draw in their Ranji Trophy match here today.

Chasing a target of 157 for victory, Delhi were reduced to 102 for nine and just managed to save the match which ended in a draw. The visitors, however, got two points by virtue of their first innings lead.

Although Delhi dominated the first three days, Gujarat middle order batsmen --Kirat Damani and Bhavik Thakkar -- led the fightback today with some solid batting, scoring 86 and 95 respectively till Delhi left arm spinner Rahul Sanghvi managed to trap Damani leg before wicket.

Thaker, who missed his century by just five runs, did give Delhi bowlers a nightmare during his innings which included 10 knocks to the boundary.

Gujarat tailenders, however, succumbed to the spin of in-form Sanghvi who swept aside the remaining batsmen except a stubborn Siddharth Trivedi, who chipped in with a valuable 30 runs in just 43 balls.

The hosts' were all out for 372 in their second innings.

Sanghvi outshone all other Delhi bowlers with his five-wicket haul in this innings followed closely by paceman Ashish Nehra who claimed three wickets.
