"I don't see any reason to replace Saurav as he was instrumental in changing attitude of his teammates, especially while playing abroad," Waugh told reporters here yesterday.
"Ganguly stood out as a leader in many adverse situations," the former Australian captain, who was here to promote schemes of Australian insurance company, ANP Sanmar, of which he is the brand ambassador, said.
To a query, Waugh said he did not regret failing to win the Test series in India in 2001.
"The series was fought hard. We (the Australians) learnt many lessons to emerge a stronger team," he added.
