Orissa pip Saurashtra by ten wickets

Rajkot:Orissa defeated Saurashtra by 10 wickets to gain five points on the penutimate day of theirRanji Trophy Plate group 'A' match played here today.

The visitors, who enjoyed a huge first innings lead of 189 runs, bundeled out the hosts for 245 runs in their second innings and made the required 56 runs without losing any wicket in just 15 overs.

Opener S S Das was unbeaten on 42 with nine fours while R R Parida, who was promoted as opener, was not out on 13.

Earlier, resuming at their overnight score of 21 for two, Saurashtra lost three wickets quickly in the first hour of play but skipper Jaydev Shah's 77 (112b, 11x4) and some usefulcontribution from lower order batsmen S Jobanputra 37 (6x4,1x6) and N Rathod 28 (5x4) avoided innings defeat for the hosts.

Saurashtra were all out for 245 thereby setting a target of 56 runs for an outright win to Orissa which they achieved easily.

For Orissa, medium pacers D Mohanty and D Mangraj took three wickets each conceding 41 and 76 runs respectively.
