Azhar Mahmood recalled for VB series

All-rounder Azhar Mahmood has been recalled to the Pakistan One-day side for the triangular VB Series against Australia and West Indies.

Mahmod, who is hard-hitting middle-order batsman besides being a swing bowler, returns to the national squad after being in the wilderness for quite a while.

Left-handed opener Taufeeq Umar also makes a comeback to the side. Rookies Mohammad Hafeez, and Rao Iftikhar Anjum have also been named in the 16-member squad for the series beginning on January 14.

Skipper Inzamam-ul-Haq will lead the team despite missing two Tests against Australia because of a back problem.

Injured speedster Mohammad Sami, leg-spinner Danish Kaneria, opener Imran Farhat, Mohammad Asif and Asim Kamal will return home after the conclusion of the ongoing Sydney Test.
